Overview

The Human Resources Manager has primary responsibility for all Human Resources (HR) functions within Barnhart and is charged with planning and managing human resource programs and strategies. Functions within the department include benefits administration, payroll administration, and ongoing employee relations work. The HR Manager is responsible for ensuring that Barnhart maintains compliance with all Federal and State employment laws, programs, policies, and regulations. The HR Manager provides advice and counsel to the senior leaders and managers on a broad range of personnel matter.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides overall leadership and supervision for all HR Operations including:

  • Proper new employee setup and benefit processing.
  • Accurate payroll processing for both union and non-union employees
  • Creation and maintenance of hardcopy and electronic human resources records and files.
  • Responding to internal and external requests for service, information, and/or data.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal and State employment laws, including EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA.
  • Effectively supervise and mentor HR staff.
  • Provide high level advice and counsel to the senior leadership team and branch managers covering a board range of employee relations and organizational matters including performance assessment and management, labor relations, corrective actions, dispute resolution, compensation and classification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or business related discipline.
  • Minimum of ten years HR generalist experience, with a minimum of 5 years of HR management experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with business goals in the areas of employee relations and compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments and all levels of associates.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage sensitive situations and confidential data.
  • Strong HRIS experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge working with union contract compliance issues.
  • Experience in acquisition integrations of personnel would be a plus.
