Job Description:

  • Full supervision responsibilities for oversight of one or more teams responsible for the erection phase of wind power construction.  Project teams include receiving, lay down yard, base/lower mid-section erection, retrograde, QA/Mechanical Completion, and Barnhart Subcontractors
  • Duties include maintaining a liaison with other managers to insure all required materials, equipment and inspections support the project scope and schedule
  • Must understand the overall project scope, plans and specifications and be able to provide leadership in their assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist in developing and coordinating lift plans and have the ability to change the plans as needs arise
  • Responsible for day-to-day construction activities and productivity through planning for each day’s work, having alternate plans if circumstances require a change in work sequence, and through continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of personnel and processes
  • Focuses on safety of crews and care of large equipment including cranes
  • Must have experience working with regional ironworker and operator unions
  • Participates in daily operational planning meetings with key project personnel; communicate the work plan of the day; provide input to overall project planning and scheduling
  • Work closely with representatives from the turbine manufacturer, transporter, general contractor, and subcontractors to plan for successfully implementing the erection work in coordination with other critical elements of the project including commissioning
  • Train and assist project teams with overall construction crane safety and the proper use of cranes.  Must have full knowledge of current crane operating standards. Must be able to train operator, forepersons, etc. on processes and procedures.  Mechanical knowledge of Rough Terrain and Crawler cranes.  Well versed in OSHA regulations with respect to cranes and rigging
  • Position requires extensive travel and often long hours.



  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in related work.  Knowledge of heavy lift equipment and/or plant operations is a plus
  • Experience in a supervisory role in a related construction field
  • Demonstrated planning and leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain written documentation of daily activities
  • Flexible schedule, able to travel and work over time
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass drug screen, fit-for-duty test and clean background check
