Position Purpose:

The Applications Technical Trainer will work with IT, operations and departmental subject matter experts. They will develop effective training materials programs and assessments, which will reduce onboarding time and increase knowledge of various technologies for our employees.


General Summary

Under limited supervision, this position will engage with implementation teams and subject matter experts during and after technology releases. This will include developing documentation and training opportunities to help accelerate business practices.  This position is frequently involved in multiple assignments at once.  Formulating training plans and materials such as documented work instructions and tutorial videos that can range from relatively minor to substantially complex.  Provide guidance and understanding on best practices surrounding training technology consumers.  The incumbents of this position are expected to perform all other related duties as assigned.


Position Summary:

  • Conducts computer training needs assessment by collecting information on employee skillsets from subject matter experts.
  • Creates technical training programs including documentation and tutorial videos according to requirements.
  • Works with technology and operational teams during implementation to develop training schedules, agendas, content and objectives.
  • Evaluates technical processes and identifies areas needing improvement.
  • Prepares training materials and sessions, in groups or individually.
  • Reports data on completed courses and issues.
  • Determines overall effectiveness of programs and training by listening to feedback and making improvements as necessary.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.


Ideal Skills/Knowledge Includes 

  • Experience with training development software and learning management systems.
  • Experience in the heavy construction industry.
  • Experience working with multi-media equipment.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (excel, outlook, word).


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Experience in information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. 
  • Requires minimum (3) years qualifying work experience in a technology trainer, training facilitator or relevant position.
